Designer Feature: Polly Taylor

Today I would like to introduce Polly Taylor, she is a graduate from Devon but is now located in London.  Polly graduated with a degree in Interior Textile Design.  She is now designing, making and selling her own cushion designs via Etsy and will soon have her products on sale in a shop called Porters of Station Road which is found in Bovey Tracey in South Devon!

Polly is inspired by pretty much everything, which I find a lot of creatives can pull inspiration from anywhere, a handy skill when your stuck in a design rut!  Her designs are an abstract interpretation of the world around her and she loved to experiment with colour which you can see in her work below.

Polly wanted to be a textile designer from a young age and has always been creative, she started out wanting to be an architect though, until she realised how long you have to study to become one.  This was when she moved over to interior design and into textile design.  Her big dreams are to make her name known in the industry and have her designs on sale in stores such as Liberty and Heals.  I wish her all the best in making this happen!

She is currently working on a new collection of digitally printed cushions and fabrics which are to be launched this summer!

As soon as I had a flick through Polly's website, which you can find here, I loved her work!  Her abstract inky designs and bold use of beautiful colour palettes draw you in.  Her use of blank space on her cushions is fantastic and her delicate line work is wonderful, I can see these working very well in contemporaty interiors.  I also love the Silk Dupion she uses (one of my favourite fabrics!).  You can have a look through her Etsy shop here =)

Now for a little showcase of her work...
